I’m a bit of a nature activist, so when the opportunity to make an infographic came along, I was set on making something that would help spread the word about struggling wildlife. I decided to go with a stop motion animation, collage style, to hopefully transmit the information in a fun and entertaining way.
The orangutan is a critically endangered species. Their population has been dramatically decreasing for decades and it’s still decreasing today. The main reason for this decline is habitat loss. And by far the largest cause of that is the conversion of rainforests to palm oil plantations. In this infographic I tell the story of how orangutans became endangered. But undoubtedly the most important part for me is that the video offers solutions to the problem. By adding these solutions I want to provide some positivity to this often negatively put subject. I hope that this method will motivate people to actually try and change things.
